What Is a prosthodontist?
A prosthodontist is a dental specialist focusing on dental implants, cosmetics, and complex reconstructive dentistry. They are experts in the use of artificial materials to repair or replace teeth and facial structures.
To become a prosthodontist, a dentist must complete three years of full-time formal university training after dental school in an accredited hospital- or university-based prosthodontics program. Prosthodontics is one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA), and less than 2% of all dentists are prosthodontists.
